What are Sliders?

Ingredients for French Dip Sliders

How to Make Pastrami Sliders

  1. Saute onions –  Heat 2 tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a heavy skillet. Sprinkle 1/4 tsp. of sugar into a pan and let it sit for 5 minutes before moving to the counter. Cut Buns – To bake a sandwich, preheat the oven to 425°F. Place the bread on a baking sheet or use a toaster oven.
  2. Add toppings–  Spread mayo over the bottom bun, then place pastrami slices over the mayo. When it’s time to eat, add sliced provolone.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 large or 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 oz au jus mix, made according to package instructions
  • 3 cups water, to make the sauce, or to taste
  • 16 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb deli pastrami or roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 9 slices of mild provolone cheese, not aged
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted, plus more to grease the baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Butter a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium/high heat. Add 1 Tbsp olive oil and 2 Tbsp butter. Stir in diced onion and sauté over medium heat for 5 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally. Combine sugar and salt in a medium saucepan and add water, scraping up any brown bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Add to a plate.
